Hello! Remember us?

I realize that it has been a while again since I have posted here. I think so often about putting some pictures up, but I never feel like I have anything significant to say. I have reminded myself that this blog is a place for me to journal my family and our happenings. If that is boring to others, so be it. I need to keep it up. I had the first hundered posts or so printed by Blog2Print in to a hard bound book. I want to do that again...which requires me to keep up here.

So, what are some new things in the Schnick Family's life? It is offically summer. I've been off work since Friday. I have to work two days this week and them I'm off until August 2nd. Brian is spending this week in San Diego for work. I joined the Y this morning...no laughing! I have been thinking about it for a while and have consistently come up with every lame excuse in the book for why I can't. There just aren't enough excuses to keep away the fact that I need to get healthy. I went to Step this morning with Nicole and enjoyed having time for myself. I look forward to focusing on my health this summer. Hayden is taking swimming lessons two days a week until July 11th. Then on July 19th he will start a two-week session that is held 4 days each week. I am hoping he stops talking to the teacher long enough to pay attention and learn something. The nice thing about our YMCA is that the pool Hayden swims in has a corner of it that is a splash pool for the little ones. So, Lauren can play in the pool while Hayden has lessons. I only have to drag her over to Hayden once or twice to tell him to knock off some rowdy behavior. Not bad! We are planning to go to Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells in July with the Norvell's for our summer vacation. I am taking Brian on a surprise overnight the weekend after that. We will have a weekend off and then we go to Columbus, OH for my cousins wedding. It is going to be a busy summer!

You'll have to bear with me with the amount of pictures I have to post. The kids have both had some new experiences these last few weeks...T-ball, hair cuts, playing with friends..

Hayden started t-ball this summer and has really been enjoying it. He is understanding the concept for the most part. His team is the Marlins and he is #3. Here are some action shots...

Ready for the field!

It takes a while to get through the entire batting line up for the other team.

Lauren got her first hair cut on Friday, June 18th. We took her to Locks of Fun in Valpo. where the kids sit in cars and have dvd's playing in front of them instead of mirrors. This won't be the norm, but I wanted the first time to be positive and not scary.
Here is her berfore shot...
She's ready!
She can even make an alligator clip look cute!
This shot sums up how she felt about the hair cutting experience...
The after shot... With the summer upon us, we've been able to spend more time with Les, Nicole, and Leah (Lauren's BFF)

We were watching Leah this week when the nasty storm rolled through. While eating dinner, the power went out and the tornado sirens went off. So, we ended up in the basement and this is what the kids did until the coast was clear.
Leah the fire girl! She's already saved a poor little kitty. I also wanted to give Brian props for our beautiful home! He always does a great job keeping the lawn and landscaping well kept. He should be very proud of it all!
That's all for now. I hope that you are having a wonderful summer so far!

yes, I do in fact remember you. So glad to 'see' what you have been up to.
Yeah for you, joining the Y. I don't even think there is one within 30 minutes of us. A fitness place in Plymouth, but that is still 20 min. away. Good thing we can walk just about anywhere here in Culver. Gives me the exercise I need.
Looks like a packed summer, but maybe you and the kids can swing our way one day and we can hit the beach together? See you Sat.
