Things I Never Expected

So my friend Molly inspiried me to write more about myself instead of my kids in her latest blog about motherhood. I was thinking lately about my job and how it is sometimes quite different than I ever expected it to be. I thought I'd come up with a list of things I never expected in my job.

1. I never expected the lengths that parents would go to in order to defend their misbehaving children.

2. I never expected that I'd have to deal with games called "Pimp Slapping" and "Flying the Bird" in elementary school.

3. I never expected that I'd be doing so many evening actvities (PTO, board meetings, athletics, etc...).

4. I never expected so many problems stemming from the bus.

5. I never expected that the teachers and administration would not be able to agree on a contract my first year.

6. I never expected to be in the middle of an investigation of a staff member my first year.

7. I never expected that I might forget to eat lunch.

8. I never expected to hear so many sad stories about how parents' lives so negatively affect their children's lives.

9. I never expected to decide paint colors and design elements for a building project that would be around for years and years.

10. I never expected to enjoy doing this job so much. The day flies by and I really see the impact my decisions have.

I hope that you all have a great weekend! I'm going to take a nap!

yes, yes...I"m such an inspiration! :)

I've forgotten to eat lunch a few times....mostly when the kids were babies. It would be like 5pm and I'd think I was STARVING and couldn't wait any longer for dinner and then realize I hadn't eaten since breakfast!

I'm also SOOO glad you related to a few of my admissions!!! Makes me feel WAY better!
