Life these days...

It has been a while since I posted last and I thought it would be good to get on and say hello! We are experiencing a few changes now that school is getting ready to begin. We started in late July by having the kids start at a new sitter. It is at her home and she came well recomended to me by several people at school. She has been watching kids for over 20 years. I had hoped that the transition would go well and it did. Hayden was fine from day one. There were kids there for him to play with and he was busy all day. So much so that he fell asleep every day on the way home. Lauren took a little longer to warm up. The first week and a half, she cried every day. She tried to cling to my legs and sit on my feet to get me to stay. Thankfully, each day she cried a little less until last Tuesday she just walked away to play with toys like it was no big deal. She has done great ever since. I think the kids feel right at home there. The reason we made the change is because Hayden will be going to school with me and this will allow him to ride the bus to the sitter's house after school. I have meetings just about every day after school and he cannot be supervised if he were to stay. I didn't want to take them to two different places. So I had them both make the switch. We still love our former sitter and hate to make the change, but it was necessary.

I am currently in the Chicago area for a training on Professional Learning Communities. It is a very interesting institute, but talk about information overload! There is a lot to digest. Speaking of digestion...I think we are going to dinner at Cheesecake Factory! Yum! Brian is playing Daddy and Mommy while I'm gone. I think he will do a great job. The kids love their daddy.

Hayden is starting Kindergarten on Friday. Where in the world did the time go? It will be interesting for me to balance the first day of school responsibilites with being a parent who needs to attend the Kindergarten orientation. Those are two different hats to wear, but the mommy hat is the priority! He'll never start school again (at least not until college & that's a whole differnt thing) and I don't want to miss that moment. It's crazy how it is such an emotional thing for a parent. I'm not a crier and don't plan on doing so on Friday. But...it really tugs at my heart to think that my baby isn't such a little thing any more. And I won't ever get those years back. He just keep getting bigger! Before I know it, he will be going to the prom! Slow this process down! Please??????????

We are getting our family pictures taken by Jen on Thursday afternoon. I'm looking forward to it and hoping for cooperative kiddos. I've been wanting to do family pictures for about the last two years and we just haven't gotten it done. The last time Brian and I had professional pictures done together was at our wedding...10 years ago! We have changed a little bit since then. Hopefully Jen will post some of the pictures for you to see after we have them taken.

I'm not a crier either *can you believe it?!?* but I was a total disaster the first day I saw Vincent's little butt get on the school bus. Good luck :) See you Thursday.
