Disney World 2009...Part 2

Thursday- We got up early on Thursday to go to the Magic Kingdom. It was their Extra Magic Hours and they opened an hour early. As we entered the park, Pluto was right at the front. We had a quick photo op. with him. Then, Brian wanted to go on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Of course, that part of the park was not open early. We hadn’t had breakfast yet, so we went back to the bakery on Main Street until 9:00. Once it hit 9:00, we made our way to the ride. The lines are usually about an hour long. We walked right on to the ride. Hayden really enjoyed it. He and mom went into the Swiss Family Robinson tree house next. We went finally convinced Hayden to try a roller coaster. He was tall enough to go on the Big Thunder Mountain ride. It’s a roller coaster that looks like you’re on a train. That was what hooked Hayden…a train! He wasn’t too sure about it when we got on, but loved it the whole time. We also went on the Haunted Mansion ride and the It’s a Small World ride. Hayden still hadn’t seen Mickey, so we went to the Mickey’s Toontown Fair area to Mickey’s Country House. We walked through the house and into the Judge’s Tent where you can meet Mickey. The line was crazy long and Mickey was on a break. So, I was able to convince Hayden that we’d try again later. We were getting really hungry by now, so we ate a counter service lunch (Brian and I both had a chicken caesar salad, mom had a burger, Hayden had chicken nuggets, & Lauren ate jarred veggies). We made our way to the hotel for our afternoon swim and nap. On the way, we caught the afternoon parade. Hayden got his first real look at Mickey during the parade. Now he could sleep happily knowing he had seen Mickey.

An attempt at a family picture...
Donald took Hayden's glasses and was trying them out.

Another attempt at a group picture.
Our dinner reservations this night were at the Kona CafĂ© at the Polynesian Resort. It took a bus transfer and short monorail ride to get there. This was a Hawaiian themed restaurant. The food was delicious. Mom got us some pot stickers to share. Brian had a Coconut Almond Chicken. Mom got a teriyaki style NY strip and I got the yummy Pomegranate BBQ Pork Chop. Hayden shared his Mickey shaped cheese ravioli with Lauren. He also had chicken noodle soup (that he mixed in with his noodles). Brian and mom also enjoyed the Kona coffee that they were serving. We hopped back on the monorail for a quick ride over to the Magic Kingdom again. When we were using the restroom, I spotted Pinocchio behind us. I thought Hayden would like to see him. He had other plans. Hayden asked my mom if she would like to see Pinocchio. Mom said that she would. So they get in line. When it was their turn, Hayden gave mom a shove and said “Go ahead. You wanted to see Pinocchio.” She said he had a sneaky grin on his face and would not go up to Pinocchio. Mom had to go up with him. At one point, Pinocchio walked over and stood by the photographer like he was saying, “Fine. I’ll stand over here if you don’t want to see me.” Finally, he decided to talk to Pinocchio about his smashed penny. It was a pretty funny experience…especially for mom. We took the train to the back of the park and mom and I went to secure a spot for the parade. Brian and Hayden rode the Goofy’s Barnstormer roller coaster and the car ride (that Hayden got to drive). They eventually joined us for the parade and fireworks. The light parade was similar to the one we saw two years ago. Lauren really enjoyed it and it was cute to watch her excitement. We made our weary way back to the hotel in order to get ready for a day off from the parks on Friday. Brian’s mom and sister were coming to visit with us.
