Randomness

This post is pretty much a bunch of random things all rolled up under one title. We are enjoying a lazy, sunny Saturday morning today. These are the kind of days I love. As I type, Brian and Hayden are outside the window planting two new rose bushes for me (the others died last year). Lauren is standing at the window watching them and chatting. It's so sweet. I am very excited about the roses because one of them is my absolute favorite, the coral color. I can't wait for them to bloom.

Since Easter, we have just been doing the typical stuff. Work for me has been busy. Apparently when the weather begins to warm up, kids start to lose their minds. I think I knew that, but on a smaller scale. In a classroom of less than 20 kids, it isn't as bad as dealing with the whole student body. We start the second round of ISTEP testing this coming week. I hope that they can hold it together to get through it well. It is such a difficult time of year to hold their attention for long periods of time! Brian is enjoying the few days of sunshine that we have had. He's been on his motorcycle as much as possible. He has been busy at work as well. Hayden is enjoying preschool and cannot wait for Kindergarten next year. I don't know if I have ever mentioned that we decided to have him go to school with me next year. We will be offering one full-day class and I am pretty sure he should be able to be in that class. Pray for me now. If you know Hayden well at all, you know he can be head-strong and opinionated at times...don't know where he got that! I think that in the school setting he will be much better than at home. It will just be interesting that I will be in the building with him. I've already informed him that he is the only child in the school that I can spank...not that I'd really do it. Lauren is continuing her lazy streak. She still isn't walking. Although she is cruising furniture quickly and moving between things by letting go and leaning to the next item. She won't even really stand in the house. In the grass, she is more likely to stay standing because she hates the grass. Yesterday, she stood for a long time and when I backed up, she took about three quick steps toward me. It was just a desperate attempt to get out of the grass...I wouldn't call it real walking. She won't even attempt that on the soft, comfortable carpet. We'll keep plugging away at it. As far as talking goes, she really only says one thing purposefully. She says "Hi" with a very southern sounding drawl. She gives a wave every time she does it so we can confirm that is what she is saying. She has a great receptive understanding though. She can follow some simple directions and you can see her thinking often. Lazy or not, we still think she is the cutest thing on earth (along with her brother, of course).
My goal for today is to get the house cleaned up, organize some cluttered areas, do some laundry, and buy a sand & water table to replace the sandbox we have now. We might get groceries too if I feel like it. We'll see. I hope you enjoy the sunshine today!

Lauren walking with her walking toy...

I think if she could escape, she'd be out of here!

Checking out the world outside.

I think this is her attempt to stand up, but it just looks like she is trying to do a somersault.

Hayden wanted to play outside after dinner, but had to finish his sweet potatoes. He was not a fan, but was determined to finish. Needless to say, he didn't go outside that night.

Little Miss Technology. What is it with babies and phones/remotes?

thanks for the random update...it's always good to hear what's going on with you all!
Hope the kids don't lose their minds too much until the end of school! After spring break seems like a long, long time!
